I’m Aissatou, a communications professional, poetry writer and blogger. I started this platform with the goal of helping people navigate through their gluten allergies and introduce them to a plant-based lifestyle. It quickly evolved into a space for all things self care and wellness.

My own wellness journey began a few years ago. As a background to this story, when I was six years old, I started getting constant abdominal pain and vomiting. These episodes would last between a day to a week and resulted in my being hospitalized hundreds of times until I was 16. Eventually, in my late teens, I stopped getting frequently ill. Doctors performed multiple tests, but could not find the source of my issue. One day, I tested positive for a gluten allergy. When I realized my diet could impact my health, I removed other foods, like dairy, that made me feel bad after I ate them. My entire life changed after that.

I no longer felt nauseous in the morning, looked forward to eating a meal and finally had a healthy relationship with food. After two years of going gluten-free and dairy-free, I removed meat from my diet, becoming vegetarian and discovering a new type of cuisine. Today, I’m proudly plant-based! The end goal for me is to adopt a more mindful way of consuming foods and anything else that can affect my physical and mental state. Thrrough tears, therapy, prayer and practicing affirmations, I was able to upgrade my lifestyle and become more confident in my own skin. And the journey towards self-discovery is not over yet!
